Limpopo-born and Jozi-raised songstress has been an advocate of love and joy in her music offering. Dineo Motsepe aka Mizz Dee is popularly known for her suave vocal gist that gels with the uptempo beats and evokes emotions.
The 26 year-old soulful house singer and songwriter grew up in a musical family wherein her father used to thrill with “Wacko Jacko’s” moonwalk while her mother was a staunch collector of good music. Listening to Babyface, the late Luther Vandross and Aaliyah; and impersonating fallen stars Lebo Mathosa and TK ignited her passion. She discovered her performance prowess at a tender age. Her teen musical achievements include reaching the Midrand High Idols Competition Finals.
Mizz Dee has unfolded off the wrapper after spending most of her young career as a featured vocalist. She appeared on Soul Candi’s Miggs FoReal ‘FoReal House session Vol.2 & 3’with ‘Better Days’ and ‘My Rock’ respectively. She also collaborated with the 999 afro-house band Afrikan Roots on the song ‘Say Yes’ which topped charts on radio. “Working with powerhouse DJs and producers like Miggs, Gino and Afrikan Roots helped me sharpen my craft and understand music production and business. They played a big role” she said.
She released her brand new summer hit titled ‘Summertime Love’ recently. The song talks about releasing undesirable energy and treasuring the sunshine “I wrote the song in Spring when I touched a dream… I celebrate life, love and its colorfulness” she said. The song is a collaboration of Mizz Dee and Kris J on production. “Summer Love record electrifies me. I can dance and pop bubbly for love anytime…let’s get high on love” she said excitingly. The song is available digitally and on rotation.
The Tshwane-based songbird is content. She is musically muscled to collaborate with her favored musicians such as Black Motion, Black Coffee and Prince Kaybee. She is frequently in studio working on her upcoming EP. Moreover stretching her vocals and serenating the crowds with her resonant sound, Mizz Dee is part of Tshwane Anti-Substance Abuse social movement.
