Chevy Lee Matchessa (born December 21,1998), professionally known as Chevydbeats, is a South African record producer and rapper/singer from Cape Town, South Africa.

He grew up in a small neighborhood called Steenberg. Chevy matriculated from steenberg high in 2016. At an early age in his life Chevy began writing his own songs which led him to perform them at school events across Cape Town but it never stopped there. From early 2012 he started taking his music into DAW – FL Studio to record songs. He then went on to composing his own music from scratch which helped him mold his music and creative ideas. A year later he enters a competition called the Unseen Stars which he made it through to the finals. In 2014 Chevy started producing beats for local artists in his community and performing at gigs with them. Further in the year he then joined a group called YOTM [Youngsters On The Move] but due to financial difficulties the crew decided to slip. He says’ I love performing, composing beats and rapping but it’s time for me to find myself again’ In 2016 he got introduced to a professional sound engineer which later then became his mentor and lecture. In his final year of high school he hosted a hip hop show at his school called ‘Yes We Can’ to raise funds for his studies the following year as his parents could not afford to pay. Cape Audio College kindly sponsored his event with sound and lighting. In 2017 he joined a movement called blakk sheep which only lasted a few months.Chevy recently [15 June 2018] hosted his second show at the retreat community hall called ‘Streets Unite’ along side the City of Cape Town [Shanen Rossouw] & Heal The Hood for young up and coming talent within Cape Town. The event was a huge success and all artists and people evolved recieved remunirations for there support. Chevy has also been part of various leadership programms and camps eg. Columba Leadership Accademy, RCL and many more. Chevy then released a beat tape called ‘R3@L W0RLD’ in May.He then started producing for artists like Chinga Time, Joey45, Quincy Kay, Young Waters and more. Chevy also has music playing on CCFM, Bush Radio and a local internet radio station ‘Bump It Local’ He released a track with Joey45 Called 45 Come Up which was featured on PlugZha Magazine. He is currently studying sound engineering at cape audio college and working on new music. He also says that he wants to focus mainly on collaborations for 2017 and is currently working with artists/producers from all over South Africa. Chevy has also worked with Cape Town producer Kay Faith @Redbull studios who produced/worked on songs for artist like YoungstaCpt , Da.les, AKA , E-JAY and many more. Chevydbeats has also work with the likes of Phresh Clique, Kay Faith , Benchmarq, Ohgooch and Sipho The Gift. Chevy has also helped produce a song along side Kay Faith for Da – l.e.s x YoungstaCPT called Slam Dunk which was part of Da l.e.s HOF2 Album. Chevy is also currently working with Rnb singer Valerie Omari on her next EP.
