Dynamic Hip Hop trio on their own wave

South African Hip Hop Trio ‘3Plug’ is becoming a force to be reckoned with. They are steadily taking over the new age rap culture.

Xolile ‘Blade X ’Mahlangu, Sifiso ’Fistola’ Mnyimbane and Sizwe ‘NeroMan’ Ngubeni are the comprising individuals in the band ‘3Plug,’ born and raised in the dusty streets Ivory Park east of Johannesburg. Three friends explain their hard ships of being a musician in a disadvantaged neigbourhood like Ivory Park as a learning curve. “The lack of resources and information in Ivory Park is more of a learning curve instead of a setback because as an individual you know the amount of work you have to put in for your music to be played on the radio and to get across, it taught us to get out of our comfort zones and strive for the best in everything we do because we have no choice but to bring out our A game”  said Blade X  as he explained how the group grew so rapidly ever since it was formed in 2013.

Over the years the trio started to explore other elements of music, that is how they got to realize that they are not just rappers, they have other hidden talents such as singing, producing, performing you name them. Fistola believes that their rapid growth was due to their versatility. “Although we have our own solo projects and brands, being adaptive of other music elements as 3Plug saw us collaborate with the likes of DJ Thakzin, Kreazoe Musik and Die Mondez, that definitely gives us the green light that we are moving in the right path.

3plug have been around for 6 years now and the future looks bright for them, it is music as usual and they will not stop under they secure the bag and bag awards for their hard work, they recently released a single titled ‘Vanessa’ a Trap banger depicting a young man who has realised that his life isn’t going as he planned and embarks on a journey to look for his soul mate that will make him whole again.

Our music is inspired by real life situations, we write based on what we see happening around us and that is why people relate to our music more because we write specifically things that affect their day to day lives” Explained NeroMan “My advice to all upcoming artists out there would be to identify what makes them unique and work on that because the game is too wide to copy what others are doing, find what makes you tick and keep that, never give up on your dreams because of your background, it always gets worse before it gets better
